Monument to the Fallen Miners

Mitrovica, Kosovo

During WWII the fascists occupied this mining town, with shipments of zinc and lead sent regularly back to German munitions plants. This monumental ore-cart remembers the Miners' Troop, a resistance group formed of local Serb and Albanian fighters. Architect: Bogdan Bogdanović Completed: 1973 Formerly Yugoslavia
